HOW TO USE DENTAL FLOSS

An essential dental hygiene habit is flossing. It removes food that has become caught
between your teeth and cleans your mouth, reducing the amount of bacteria and plaque
there. Plaque is a sticky coating that forms on teeth and causes gum disease and
cavities.
Wax-free floss
One of the most widely used forms of floss is unwaxed floss. It is made of nylon that is
created by winding a number of strands together. Floss that has not been waxed
contains no artificial flavour, making it chemical-free.
Due to the fact that unwaxed dental floss is significantly thinner than other forms of
dental floss, it is ideal for people who have small gaps between their teeth. Unwaxed
floss is more likely to break and shred than other varieties of floss because of the way it
is made.
Sticky Floss
With the addition of a waxed layer, waxed floss is made in a manner that is remarkably
similar to unwaxed floss. The waxed coating makes the floss stronger so that it won’t
tear or break while being used. Additionally, it makes the floss glide between teeth more
easily than unwaxed floss.
This type of dental floss is thicker than unwaxed floss because of the additional layer of
wax. As a result, fitting through tiny gaps becomes more challenging. Additionally, the
floss’s waxy texture makes it more difficult for the average user to grip.
Mega Floss
Super floss is a particular kind of floss made for people with braces, bridges, and large
gaps between their teeth. There are three primary parts to it. These include a stiff end
threader, ordinary floss, and spongy floss. With the threader, a thorough cleaning of
bridges and other dental appliances is made simple for the user.

HOW TO FLOSS CORRECTLY
Cut a piece of dental floss that is 18 to 24 inches long. Wind the majority of the floss
around both of your middle fingers to hold the floss properly. Just 1 to 2 inches of floss
should be saved for your teeth.
Next, use your thumbs and index fingers to hold the floss taut.

In between two teeth, place the dental floss. Gently move the floss up and down,
rubbing it on each tooth’s surface on both sides. Keep the floss from touching your
gums. Your gums may be scratched or bruised by this.
Make a C-shaped bend in the floss at the tooth’s base as it approaches your gums. By
doing this, the floss is able to reach the area between your gum and your teeth.
As you travel from tooth to tooth, repeat the procedure. Use a fresh, clean section of
floss for every tooth.
